It's never good when a game update post starts off with an apology, but I do truly want to apologize about this not being a normal update. I'm sure many see it as a waste of time, but this is something I had to do for me to feel good about my game. I want to feel confident that everyone who is generous enough to spend their time with Love by the Water is getting quality from the beginning, instead of being forced to "get through the rough parts" first. It's not completely there, but the things that have been killing me over the last few months have mostly been removed from the project, replaced by things I'm genuinely proud of. I've learned a lot since I started this project, and I'm so excited for this new era of the game.

This is a small update! A lot of the time and work that went into this update are minor things that will help me tell a better, more complete story going forward. This update is very front-loaded, with everything being redone up until Wake's first class, after which only sporadic scenes were changed (such as swim tryouts, Academics, Emma's scene with Celia, and Chapter 1's climactic H-scene). This means you may also notice jarring discrepancies in visual quality from scene-to-scene and even changes in the bodies of certain characters, particularly with Chapter 2 now standing out as the weakest visually. I'm worried it'll feel minor to you all, so please go in with these expectations for me.

This update features:

- 1,500 new renders: While many of these are strictly visual upgrades for old content, many of these images make up entirely new scenes and interactions that take place early on in the game. I sought to fix early pacing issues, as well as better execute certain characterizations and themes I think I did an amateur job of establishing.

- 50 animations: I spent a lot of the time over the last past few months improving in every facet of development, and I think that's going to be most clear in my animations. These animations are the best I've ever made and showcase the quality I intend to commit to going forward. Those who have played the original chapter know that the two earliest H-scenes don't features animations at all (they are, instead, just cycling images); these scenes have, of course, been fully redone and extended, as have the rest of the early game H-content. I've also begun implementing choreographed timeline animation for non-sexual content that I think (or hope) people will enjoy.

- Updated pacing and changes: I've never shied away from the fact that this is a porn game. This is not something I'm ashamed of, and I have no intention of ever being any kind of slowburn. That being said, I do think I treated some characters unfairly in my initial writing, and I wanted to give them a second chance. This means that certain early game H-content that I deem rushed, forced, or exceedingly unromantic has been removed from the game. This primarily affects Nora and her two scenes, both of which have been removed from the story (though the scenes are still playable in the game's gallery). This is the right choice for her. She deserves romance, wining and dining, etc.
